Ella Sheltawy is an emerging painter and ceramicist in her third year of study at The Art Academy London. She is a youth worker by trade, and with extensive experience supporting young people in crisis she brings an insightful and intuitive lens into her painting.
Her artistic vision is focused: to render the natural lines of a sitter and contrast this with their environment, with a particular focus on colour and fluidity. She works primarily in oil paint, and has been focusing on building its reflective quality, using thin washes and layering mediums to create depth. Ella works on a diverse range of materials, including found objects like cardboard which allows her to use thick and visible brush strokes when priming her surfaces, adding a textured suspended quality.
Ella is open for commissions.
